The Regional Inter-District Under-19 One Day Tournament is starting from Thursday (June 15) in 15 regions with the aim of highlighting young talent.
A total of 104 teams are participating in this tournament, through which 2080 players will be able to take part in these matches. The selection of these cricketers has been done through trials conducted across the country earlier this year.
The cricketers selected through these trials went through a medical examination process after which the top 20 cricketers were selected in each team.
The condition for the players participating in this tournament was that they were born on or after September 1, 2004.
The description of the sixteen regions participating in this tournament is as follows:
Seven zones of Karachi, three zones and six teams of Lahore, ten districts of Quetta, seven districts of Hyderabad, four districts of Rawalpindi, four zones and one district of Islamabad, five districts of Peshawar, five districts of Dera Murad Jamali, six districts of Larkana, seven districts of Bahawalpur, seven districts of Multan, six districts of Faisalabad, seven districts of Sialkot, five districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Abbottabad with seven districts and FATA with ten districts.
The tournament will be crucial for the development of cricket in Pakistan as it will provide the teams with the best format of competition in which the top team from each region will be declared the winner.
The tournament will also open up more avenues for outstanding cricketers to play in the Inter-Region U-19 Championship (three-day) and the Inter-Region U-19 Cup (One-day). The event will be held from August to October this year, in which there will be an opportunity for the players to showcase their talent at the national level to reach the top.
