Manchester City won the UEFA Champions League (UCL) after beating Inter Milan 1-0 at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium, Istanbul, on Saturday.
Rodri scored the only goal of the match in the 68th minute as he beautifully curled the ball into the net to give City a 1-0 lead.
Man City suffered a major blow in the first half as Kevin de Bruyne was substituted for Phil Foden due to an injury in the 36th minute.
Manchester City dominated the game with 56 percent possession while Inter managed to have 44 percent.
Inter did not let City’s backline rest for a larger period of time as they took 14 shots and registered six of them on target. Meanwhile, the English club managed to get only four shots on target one of which turned into a goal.
17 fouls were committed by the Italian Club as they received three yellow cards for their actions while City got two cards for committing 11 fouls.
City did not lose a single game in their entire campaign as they defeated teams like Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Real Madrid in the knockout stages.
City played their second UCL final in the last three years. They lost the 2021 UCL Final against Chelsea at Estadio do Dragao, Porto.
With the UCL win, Man City have now completed the treble as they had already won the English Premier League and the FA Cup. They became the second English club to have won the historic treble.
City have become the sixth English team to win the European Cup / UCL after Aston Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest – twice as many sides than any other nation (3 — Germany, Italy and Netherlands)
City’s head coach Pep Guardiola won the UCL for the third time in his managerial career. His last two title victories came as an FC Barcelona manager in 2009 and 2011, defeating Manchester United both times.
It must be noted that Guardiola has won the treble for the second time. Making him the first-ever manager to do so with two different clubs (Barcelona 2008-09 and City 2022-23).
